Foster parents are are very special people!
They are the most valuable players on a team that really cares about children and families. JOURNEYS, Inc. wants you
to be on that team too. Many people think about their decision to become
a foster parent for months or even years before finally making a decision. There is a lot to consider. But at
JOURNEYS, Inc., our professional staff will help make the decision process a little easier, clearer and give you the
24/7 support and assistance you'll need along the way.
YOU ARE IN
CONTROL AT JOURNEYS....
When placing a child or children in your home, JOURNEYS
staff always consider the SAFETY and APPROPRIATENESS of the placement for everyone involved.
We take into consideration:
1) What are the genders and ages of the children already in the home
2) The ability
and experience of the foster parent(s) and the child's specific level of care/individual case needs
3) The estimated
length of placement
4) Your home's size and accommodations
5) The location of your home to the child's school, therapist,
biological family (if visitations are ordered by the court)
6) The overall "personality" of your home environment
and family compilation (including your pets!)
Once a child is screened by JOURNEYS staff as a possible appropriate
fit in your home, we will inform you of all the information and history about the child. Ultimately, YOU
have the final say as to whether you would like to have the child placed in your home!!
