Shannon Richter received her Bachelor in Science degree in 1994 from Colorado State University - Pueblo in clinical psychology.  In 1998, she obtained her Masters degree in criminal justice from the University of Colorado at Denver. Shannon’s past victim advocacy efforts have included the creation of the Pueblo Rape Crisis Program in 1994 and the Pueblo County SANE/SART (Sexual Abuse Nurse Examiners/Sexual Assault Response Team) Program in 1997. The SANE/SART Program enhances the quality of evidence collection for prosecution as well as provides professional crisis intervention and emotional support for victims of sexual assault, child abuse and their families.  She currently serves as President of the Optimist Club of Pueblo. She is a volunteer with A.V.C.R.T. (Arkansas Valley Crisis Response Team) debriefing first responders such as law enforcement officers, fire fighters and emergency medical personnel.  October 2007, Shannon received the national Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute's (CCAI) 'Angels In Adoption' award from Colorado Congressman John Salazar for her years of work advocating for foster families, child welfare issues and innovative victim support services.  She is the founder and Executive Director at JOURNEYS, Inc., Child Placement Services which began in February 2004.

Tara has been with JOURNEYS, Inc. since September of 2008.  She graduated from Colorado State University-Pueblo in December of 2004 with a Bachelors degree in Sociology and Mass Communications.  Since then, Tara has been fortunate enough to earn some valuable experience in marketing, sales, event planning, public relations, coordination and advertising.  She was the Marketing Manager at the Pueblo Convention Center and the Communications Coordinator at the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce.  Tara also served on the Pueblo Dream Weavers Board of Directors for many years.
Tara decided to change careers and becom.  Tara is excited to advocate for foster children with JOURNEYS, Inc., Child Placement Services.  Tara has a wonderful way of connecting and understanding each of our foster youth and serves as a positive role model and mentor.  Tara has worked with Journeys and made an impression in so many lives since since August 2008.  She is a great part of all the children's lives and to help make their journey a successful one!
